The only problem I've encountered was when Ark does a bigger update (original map + The Island) where every single structure disappears and I have to roll back the server, then sometimes it'll load only 1 type of structure e. Very annoying. Scorched Earth seems pretty stable so far though. I might open it up to some whirlpool players, but I'll check with the other people I play with first : )an.
I might open it up to some whirlpool players, but I'll check with the other people I play with first : )Would be potentially interested : ) I only play with 1 other person at the moment. We're trying to find a nice 'Home' server haha! Atm we're bouncing around all over the shop! Check your PM's Thurst, sent you the details. Logged in this morning to find my fox with his crocodile dundee hat and my morello are both gone. Nowhere to be found : ( Bit disheartening.
My GF and I have been watching a lot of vids of this game in past few weeks and really want to get it and start playing this weekend. Anyone have a recommended server for beginners? Watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Online.
Not sure what map we want to play on yet or how that works, do you have to start a new character on level 1 if you change map/level? Anyone have a recommended server for beginners? I can recommend a server run by Obey. The. Fist which is called Scorched Perth. It's a PVE server so no need to worry about getting killed by other players and every person I have encountered on there has been very helpful. I had never played prior to playing on that server so I had tons of questions.

Afaik yes moving servers resets you back to lvl 1. It may be worth the 2 of you playing together on your own server so you can get a handle on the game and its mechanics. Anyone have a recommended server for beginners? Not sure what map we want to play on yet or how that works, do you have to start a new character on level 1 if you change map/level? Hey Mate,I started playing probably two months ago, have loved it ever since.
I started playing on 'The Center' which was a free dlc map. Not sure if it still is. That was awesome. I would suggest starting on a PVE server as well, there are heaps within the internal server browser for ARK.
I would advise playing on a server which has increased rates (by this I mean, you gather resources faster, you tame dino's faster and you level up faster). Just means you don't need to sink as much time into it. DWhat's the Scorched Earth optimization like on PC?
I love vanilla ARK but (as with probably everyone else) runs as a tentative slideshow on my PC.═CHRIS═ writes.. What's the Scorched Earth optimization like on PC? I love vanilla ARK but (as with probably everyone else) runs as a tentative slideshow on my PC.
Runs much better for me than the vanilla map. Just had to find a sweet spot with the settings. Ravensbane writes..
Runs much better for me than the vanilla map. Just had to find a sweet spot with the settings. Yeah that's the same for me with the Island map – had to find that sweet spot between eye candy and performance. Scorched Earth runs much better than vanilla Ark because: 1. Barely any trees to render. Barely any water to render.
It's just sand, rock and sky. Finally killed a rock elemental and wow did I get a surprise when its corpse yields Crystal, Metal, Obsidian, Oil, Stone, and Sulfur.
One stop shop! I can't stand the SE wyverns compared to the Annunaki versions so hard to aim/hit anything. Ravensbane writes.. Runs much better for me than the vanilla map. It's a balance thing. Not being able to aim/hit a target reliably is hardly "balance" imo. AU/NZ] 1. 4/0. 9 [X3. ALL][THE CENTRE]DEDICATEDMods.

Give it a try and stay if ya like. Was just looking at upcoming patch notes and saw this.
Upcoming Version: v. ETA: October 1. 0- New Feature: Procedurally Generated ARKs! EXPERIMENTAL INITIAL TEST! Would this be procedurally generated as in by a seed number like in other games? So randomised maps? Would be amazing if so.
Anyone played a Procedurally Generated Ark map yet? Anyone played a Procedurally Generated Ark map yet?
Oh thats enabled now? Will have to check it out. Just loaded Steam to find a 3. Ark, so probably is nowan.
Just loaded Steam to find a 3. Ark, so probably is now. Yup. Got about 3. Managed to have a go of a randomised map last night. Took ages to generate which is understandable I guess. Used to relying on the spawn locations being Easy, Hard etc.
This time picked a south one and got dumped on a snowy island quite far from main land with a t- rex and few woolie mammoths. Tried swimming to main land and got eaten by a large fish/dolphin thing.
That was the extent of my playing. Will try more today if I get a chance.
I love starting out on Ark, that's the survival- est part of all, when you have nothing and everything is a threat, you have to build yourself up from nothing until you're safe. Unfortunately, flying critters make the game too easy – as soon as you have one tamed flier, the game is easysauce. I'd love to run a game where there's no fliers. It would be a lot more challenging. Ark, that's the survival- est part of all, when you have nothing and everything is a threat, you have to build yourself up from nothing until you're safe. Totally agree. The earliest phases where you have basically nothing and everything is dangerous is one of the best survival experiences out there.
The game bogs down once you start the super long tames or are having to protect your base somehow while you sleep. Obey The Fist! writes.. I'd love to run a game where there's no fliers.
It would be a lot more challenging. Scorched Earth actually helped with this since it removed two of the flyers.
They could have gone further and remove the argy as well leaving just the Moths and Wyverns. I just bought this 5. USD)Is there any aussies that play this? Maximo. 10. 1 writes..
I just bought this 5. Is there any aussies that play this? Amazingly low price considering how rich and complex and detailed the game is. Plenty of Australians play it. If you want my advice, the best way to find Australians is to pick good private servers – you can tell the aussie hosted servers by the low pings in the server browser.
The official servers are very griefy and there's no telling where the players on them will be from. Did you get your face eaten off by a dinosaur the first time you tried to play? First time I played Ark, was my 2nd time ever using a Steam Controller, so many things were weird. I need to try setup a good control scheme with that first, then start learning the game)I first died of starvation since the berries didnt seem to do much for the food.
Then my 3 year old son wanted me to go see the dinosaur which was a Dilophosaur which I proceeded to bash with my care fists. I killed it. Not long after another one did kill me. Loving it so far, even though I have only played maybe 3. How does the leveling work? Watch Escape To Witch Mountain Youtube here.
Is each server a new character starting at 1? Maximo. 10. 1 writes.. I first died of starvation since the berries didnt seem to do much for the food.
You did good, usually it's a dino that gets you. You need to eat 1.
Eating raw meat will damage your health. Do not eat the black narcoberries. They put you to sleep, which will kill you. These are used for knocking out dinos so you can tame them. The white stimberries feed you but make you thirsty. The other berries are all fine and are just different colours so you can make paints with them. Maximo. 10. 1 writes..
Adventure Time - Wikipedia. Adventure Time[nb 3] is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. It follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (John Di. Maggio)—a dog with the magical power to change shape and size at will.
Finn and Jake live in the post- apocalyptic Land of Ooo, where they interact with Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), the Ice King (Tom Kenny), Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson), BMO (Niki Yang), and others. The series is based on a 2. Nicktoons and Frederator Studios' animation incubator series Random! Cartoons. After the short became a viral hit on the Internet, Cartoon Network commissioned a full- length series, which previewed on March 1. April 5, 2. 01. 0. The series draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including the fantasy role- playing game.
Dungeons & Dragons and video games. It is produced using hand- drawn animation; action and dialogue for episodes are decided by storyboarding artists. Because each episode takes roughly eight to nine months to complete, multiple episodes are worked on concurrently.
The cast members record their lines in group recordings, and the series regularly employs guest actors for minor and recurring characters. Each episode runs for about eleven minutes; pairs of episodes are often telecast to fill half- hour program slots. Eight seasons of the program have aired, and a ninth and final season premiered on April 2.
As of October 2. 01. Adventure Time has been a ratings success for Cartoon Network and some episodes have attracted over 3 million viewers; despite being aimed primarily at children, it has developed a following among teenagers and adults. The show has received positive reviews from critics and won awards including: seven Primetime Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, three Annie Awards, two British Academy Children's Awards, a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award, a Pixel Award, and a Kerrang!
Award. The series has also been nominated for three Critics' Choice Television Awards, two Annecy Festival Awards, a TCA Award, and a Sundance Film Festival Award, among others. Of the many comic book spin- offs based on the series, one received an Eisner Award and two Harvey Awards. Various forms of licensed merchandise, including books, video games and clothing, have been inspired by the series. Premise. Adventure Time follows the adventures of a boy, Finn the Human (voiced by Jeremy Shada), and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake the Dog (John Di. Maggio), who has magical powers to change shape and size at will.
Pendleton Ward, the series' creator, describes Finn as a "fiery little kid with strong morals".[7] Jake, on the other hand, is based on Tripper Harrison, Bill Murray's character in Meatballs. This means that while Jake is somewhat care- free, he will "sit [Finn] down and give him some decent advice if he really needs it".[7] Finn and Jake live in the post- apocalyptic Land of Ooo, which was ravaged by a cataclysmic nuclear war a thousand years before the series' events. Throughout the series, Finn and Jake interact with major characters, including: Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), the sovereign of the Candy Kingdom; the Ice King (Tom Kenny), a menacing but largely misunderstood ice wizard; Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson), a thousand- year- old vampire and rock music enthusiast; Lumpy Space Princess (Pendleton Ward), a melodramatic and immature princess made out of "lumps"; BMO (Niki Yang), a sentient video game console- shaped robot that lives with Finn and Jake; and Flame Princess (Jessica Di. Cicco), a flame elemental and ruler of the Fire Kingdom.[8][9][1. Development. Concept and creation. According to series creator Pendleton Ward, the show's style was influenced by his time attending the California Institute of the Arts (Cal. Arts) and his experiences working as a writer and storyboard artist on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, a series which ran on Cartoon Network from 2.
In an interview with Animation World Network, Ward said he strives to combine the series' subversive humor with "beautiful" moments, using Hayao Miyazaki's film My Neighbor Totoro as inspiration.[7] Ward has also named Home Movies and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist as influences, largely because both shows are "relaxing" and feature "conversational dialogue that feels natural [and is neither] over the top [nor] cartoony and shrill".[1.
The series can trace its origin back a seven- minute, stand- alone animated short film of the same name (this short would later be identified as the show's pilot post facto). Ward created the short almost entirely by himself, and concluded its production in early 2. The film was first broadcast on Nicktoons Network on January 1. Frederator Studios' anthology show Random! Cartoons on December 7, 2. After its initial release, the video became a viral hit on the Internet.[7][1. Frederator Studios then pitched an Adventure Time series to Nicktoons Network, which rejected it twice.[1.
Eventually, Nicktoons' rights to commission a full series expired, and Frederator—the short's production animation studio—pitched it to other channels.[1. One of the studios that Frederator approached was Cartoon Network, which said it would be willing to produce a series if Ward could prove the short could be expanded into a full series while maintaining elements of the pilot.[1. Rob Sorcher, the chief content officer at Cartoon Network, was influential in getting the network to take a chance on the show; he recognized the series as "something that felt really indie .. Patrick Mc. Hale was the creative director of Adventure Time for the first two seasons.
Ward and his production team attempted to "keep the good things about the original short and improve on [them]" while developing the series.[2. His college friends Patrick Mc. Hale and Adam Muto (the latter of whom would go on to be an Adventure Time storyboard artist and creative director, as well as the eventual showrunner) helped him to produce a rough storyboard that featured Finn and Princess Bubblegum going on a spaghetti- supper date.[1. Cartoon Network was not happy with this story and asked for another, so Ward, Mc. Hale, and Muto created a storyboard for the episode "The Enchiridion!", which was his attempt to emulate the style of the original Nicktoons short. This tactic proved successful, and Cartoon Network approved the first season in September 2.
The Enchiridion!" was the first episode to enter into production.[1. Ward and his production team began storyboarding episodes and writing plot outlines, but Cartoon Network was still concerned about the direction of the new series. Mc. Hale later recalled that during the pitch of an episode titled "Brothers in Insomnia" (which, for various reasons, was eventually scrapped) the room was filled with executives from Cartoon Network. The pitch went well, but the production staff was soon inundated with questions about the stylistic nature of the series. Hoping to resolve these issues, Cartoon Network management hired three veteran animators who had worked on Sponge. Bob Square. Pants: Derek Drymon (who served as executive producer for the first season of Adventure Time), Merriwether Williams (who served as head story editor for the show's first and second seasons), and Nick Jennings (who became the series' long- serving art director).[2.
Thurop Van Orman, the creator of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, was also hired to guide Ward and his staff for the first two seasons.[2. Eventually, the storyboard for "Prisoners of Love" managed to assuage many of the fears that some Cartoon Network executives had expressed.[2. Other artists were soon brought on board.
